Circles of Support: Spanish
Support for Cancer Survivors and Caregivers
Navigating cancer as a survivor or caregiver can feel isolating. You carry so much, and sometimes you just need a space where people understand what you're going through without having to explain. That's what Circles of Support offers.
Starting this April, we're launching a free, weekly support group for cancer survivors and caregivers. For eight weeks, you'll have a safe space to share your feelings, process your experience, and connect with others who get it. These circles are about comfort, community, and knowing you're not alone in this.
We're offering sessions in both English and Spanish:
English: Wednesdays starting April 15, 6-8pm
Spanish: Tuesdays starting April 28, 6-8pm
All sessions take place at the YWCA Intergenerational Center (3450 NW 199th St, Miami Gardens, FL 33056). Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early.
You don't have to carry this alone. We're here for you.

The Listening Exchange
YWCA South Florida is proud to participate in 10 Days of Connection, a citywide movement bringing 150+ Miami organizations together to build empathy and bridge differences.
Our event, The Listening Exchange, is a guided one-to-one conversation experience designed to help people connect across race, ethnicity, and nationality through the simple act of sharing personal stories. You'll be paired with someone new for a series of short conversations with thoughtful prompts that invite curiosity, reflection, and genuine listening.
Everyone is both a speaker and a listener. There are no panels, no spotlights, and no expectation to represent anyone but yourself. Just you, another person, and the space to actually listen.
This event is free and open to the community. Accommodations available upon request, including ASL interpretation.

Black Maternal Health Week
April 11-17 is an important week of awareness for our community in South Florida. Black Maternal Health Week touches all of us, as daughters, mothers, caregivers, teachers, family members, and neighbors, and reminds us why equitable prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care is essential, especially for Black mothers. The maternal mortality gap continues to widen, with Black women now 3.5 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. From Medicaid access to mental health support, too many Black and Brown mothers and babies are being failed by the systems meant to care for them, which is why this week of awareness matters so deeply.
Join YWCA South Florida and our partners this week as we raise awareness, share resources, and uplift solutions that support healthier outcomes for Black mothers and families across our community.

The Children's Trust Family Expo
By now, Miami-Dade County knows that summertime means the annual return of The Children’s Trust Family Expo, the largest, free, family resources events in our community. This year, the Family Expo events come with the added attraction that they will be partly indoors, with exhibitors housed in air-conditioned venues to keep children and families cool in the summer heat. The Family Expo continues to be the best chance for families to connect with the Trust’s extensive provider network as well as other community agencies and organizations that serve them. Events are held at various locations and on different days to make sure to reach the largest number of our diverse population in Miami-Dade.
The Expo attracts thousands of visitors annually with excitement, entertainment & resources for all who attend. This year the events will take place on weekends at the end of July and beginning of August to make it as easy as possible for families to attend and get information and resources ahead of the upcoming school year.

Circles of Support
A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, but no woman should have to navigate it alone. At YWCA South Florida, we believe in the power of community and support, which is why we are proud to offer Circles of Support, a free cancer support group specifically designed for women of color facing breast cancer.
Circles of Support is more than just a support group—it’s a family. It provides a safe and nurturing environment where women can openly share their experiences, find comfort in solidarity, and receive guidance from those who understand the unique challenges they face. Through open conversations, participants feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.
Our weekly sessions focus on holistic well-being, including emotional, physical, and mental health. Participants engage in interactive self-care and wellness workshops, mental health support, and discussions on navigating the healthcare system. By addressing the cultural, social, and emotional barriers that often impact women of color, we strive to ensure equitable access to care and resources.
Our free Circles of Support sessions will be held every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the North Dade Regional Library (2455 NW 183rd St, Miami Gardens, FL 33056). Sessions will run from March 5th through April 23rd.
