YWCA South Florida Receives Grants to Advance Family Wellness Programs and Healthcare Equity

At YWCA South Florida, we believe healthy communities are the cornerstone of progress. That is why we are thrilled to announce our efforts to improve the well-being of families and promote equitable healthcare have received critical support from two new grants. This funding, courtesy of The Miami Foundation and the Health Foundation of South Florida, will play a vital role in furthering our Family Wellness Programs and health equity work, empowering South Florida residents with access to essential services and financial support.

The Miami Foundation’s Community Grant

We are honored to be among the select 95 community organizations chosen to receive a 2023 Community Grant from the Miami Foundation. This funding, a total of $70,000 over two years, will expand the workshops, screenings and support groups presented through our Family Wellness Program. Initiatives backed by this new funding will improve overall well-being, promote healthy lifestyles and foster a sense of community by providing vital resources to individuals and families in need.

The Health Foundation of South Florida’s Grant for Improved Black Maternal Health

YWCA South Florida, in collaboration with Jackson Health System, Southern Birth Justice Network, Metro Mommy Agency and Magnolia Birth House, has been chosen to receive critical funding worth $930,000 by the Health Foundation of South Florida. As the region's largest philanthropic organization focused on achieving health equity in historically underserved communities, the Health Foundation recognizes the urgent need to address disparities Black mothers face each day. At large, this substantial grant will enable the collaborative to refine and strengthen resources surrounding Black maternal health and doula care, ensuring that every expectant mother receives the comprehensive care and supportive resources she deserves. By working with our esteemed partners, we aim to bridge gaps in access to quality healthcare services, improve prenatal care and promote positive birth outcomes for South Florida’s Black mothers. This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward achieving health equity and fostering a more inclusive healthcare environment for all.

Your Support Inspires Progress

YWCA South Florida has always ensured that uninsured, underserved, linguistically isolated and vulnerable South Florida citizens receive access to the care they need. We value the great trust placed in our organization and, on behalf of our staff and community, would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Miami Foundation and The Health Foundation of South Florida for their generous contributions. Together, we are building a society where everyone has access to the resources and services needed to thrive.
