A Town Hall on the Sustainable Development Goals and Racial Justice in Miami-Dade County

The Environmental Justice Clinic at the University of Miami School of Law, Human Rights Clinic and Program, and community partners, in collaboration with the University of Miami Race and Social Justice Law Review, Miami Law Human Rights Society, Freedom Lab Miami, and Black Audit Project, present: A Town Hall on the Sustainable Development Goals and Racial Justice in Miami-Dade County.

The meeting will focus on these key issues:
Food Justice
Climate Justice
Maternal Health
Gender-Based Violence

Global Women Enrichment Conference

Global Women Enrichment Inc., an organization with the mission of empowering women to be their best selves while knowing their worth and shaping the path for future generations, is hosting the second annual Global Women Enrichment Conference in Miami, FL on March 2, 2024. YWCA’s President & CEO, Kerry-Ann Royes, is honored to join the conference as a keynote speaker.

Matched Savings Cohort Kick-Off
Mar 6 all-day

The YWCA’s Matched Savings Program is crafted to empower participants in asset-building and reaching financial milestones. For every dollar saved, participants receive a dollar in matching funds, potentially earning up to $1,000. This initiative promotes the essential skill of saving, fostering financial empowerment. All participants will engage in at least four financial education and training workshops, ensuring comprehensive support on their journey towards financial stability.

The program runs for four weeks and meets every Wednesday at 6 -7 p.m. via Zoom.

gener8tor Skills Accelerator Program Kick-Off
Mar 11 all-day

The gener8tor Skills Accelerator is a virtual, rapid reskilling program for people looking for jobs in high-demand roles in their communities or working remotely for companies across the country. Graduates build their confidence alongside their technical knowledge in small, cohort-based groups where they receive one-on-one support to achieve their career and employment goals. Participants earn certifications that lead towards the pursuit of industry-recognized, postsecondary credentials including Certificates from gener8tor, Microsoft and LinkedIn. In certain programs, participants have access to reduced-fee exams to secure additional industry-recognized certifications.

The next cohort kicks off on Monday, March 11 and runs through Friday, April 19. Registration closes on Sunday, March 10.

New World Symphony Concert: Celebrating Black Women in Music
Mar 17 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

YWCA South Florida is honored to join New World Symphony and Councilwoman Shannan “Lady” Ighodaro to present a free outdoor concert on Sunday, March 17 at YWCA’s Intergenerational Center to celebrate visionary women who have shaped the music world.

This Mobile WALLCAST® concert will feature performances by the New World Symphony and Hued Songs, and will take you on a journey through the stories and achievements of women musicians who have left a mark on our musical landscape. Throughout the live performance, our innovative mobile wall will transport you through highlights from the ‘I Dream a World’ festival, paying tribute to the extraordinary musical talent and legacy of Mary Lou Williams.

Throughout the afternoon, take some time to explore the creativity displayed by vendors and artisans who will be showcasing their crafts and providing community resources. Come hungry and indulge your taste buds from local food trucks available onsite!

We invite you to bring your loved ones and join us as we celebrate heritage, artistry and the contributions and remarkable accomplishments of Black women in music.
