The YWCA’s Community Justice Challenge has been extended to include a book club, All The R@GE. This project goes Beyond the 21-day Community Justice Challenge that aims to keep us together and having crucial discussions that inspire positive change. All The R@GE will offer a forum for dialogue stressing racial equity, creating a safe space to keep the topic continuing.
During the month of May, we read The Fire This Time by Jesmyn Ward. In this bestselling, widely lauded collection, Jesmyn Ward gathers our most original thinkers and writers to speak on contemporary racism and race, including Carol Anderson, Jericho Brown, Edwidge Danticat, Kevin Young, Claudia Rankine and Honoree Jeffers. “An absolutely indispensable anthology” (Booklist, starred review), The Fire This Time shines a light on the darkest corners of our history, wrestles with our current predicament, and imagines a better future.
Join our discussion on May 31 for a deeper dive into the collection of essays and the lessons we can learn from them.
