MIAMI, Fla. – Global venture firm and startup accelerator gener8tor today announced the kickoff of a new Skills Accelerator cohort with support from JPMorgan Chase, YWCA South Florida, and Microsoft. The gener8tor Skills Accelerator expands the Miami Digital Skilling in Action program, an initiative launched in 2021 to help Miami residents build digital skills necessary for employment in a post-COVID-19 economy.
The gener8tor Skills Accelerator is a free, virtual, rapid-skilling program for people seeking local or remote/cross-country employment in high-demand jobs. The Accelerator is designed to help those who have lost their jobs or are struggling to find employment. Founded in summer 2020, the program has grown from 19 participants in Northeast Wisconsin to 1,400 individuals across
the United States. Participants receive certificates in high-demand career tracks and job placement support into new roles with greater salaries and opportunities for advancement.
“The possibilities for more of Miami’s under-resourced communities to train for and find meaningful employment in high-demand areas aligns perfectly with our mission,” says YWCA South Florida CEO Kerry-Ann Royes. “We are very grateful to JPMorgan Chase and Microsoft for this investment in our organization, gener8tor and our community’s future.”
“We’re thrilled to work with JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft and YWCA South Florida to bring this program to life and bolster the technology and sustainability industries in Miami,” said Cole Shearer, gener8tor Skills vice president. “Our team has seen incredible Skills graduates experience life-changing impacts from the program in other parts of the country, and we’re excited to bring that same impact to the community of South Florida.”
At the end of gener8tor’s Skills Accelerator, participants will graduate with professional certificates from LinkedIn Learning and gener8tor, continuing their career growth through gener8tor job-placement services and ongoing alumni support channels.
